Keep Mailing Those Newsletters: Your Key to Success

by Neil Mathweg
Thinking about pulling back? Feeling the pressure to cut expenses? Wondering if anyone is even reading your newsletter?

I get it. I’ve had the same thoughts a few times during my 20+ years of mailing newsletters. I also hear it daily from hundreds of agents across the country who I have had the opportunity to coach.

The temptation to stop is strong, but don’t do it!

Avoid losing out!

The advice I’m giving you today will help you avoid losing out on all of the future business coming your way.

When times are tough, it’s easy to question every expense. You might think, No one is reading my newsletter, so why bother? But let me reassure you: Consistent communication is more important now than ever.

Cutting back could mean losing the trust and recognition you’ve worked so hard to build.

In 2008, my sales dropped by 50%. It felt like everything was crumbling. I almost stopped mailing newsletters. But a wise mentor encouraged me to find a way to keep mailing.

I didn’t quit. Instead, I found a way to keep them going. And am I ever glad I did! In my real estate sales career, I sold over 1,000 homes, and 80% of my sales came from my sphere of influence—all those newsletter subscribers!

With each person in your sphere most likely knowing one—if not five—other agents, you must stand out. You cannot afford to lose your top-of-mind position.

You also may still need to earn your sphere’s trust.

Your sphere may know you, and they may even trust you. But do they trust you with their real estate needs? Your newsletter can help cement that trust.

Avoid these mistakes!

Yes, there are good and bad ways to do newsletters. It is possible to mess this up. You can do it wrong.

But here’s the good news: Over the past 20 years, I’ve already made those mistakes.

You don’t need to do it wrong because you can learn from my mistakes. I can show you how to do it, and how to do it smart so your newsletter gets you the results you’re looking for.

How do you avoid newsletter mistakes?

I put together an entire podcast episode on these mistakes and how to avoid making them. It’s all right there.
